Rex W. Miller, 99, of New Paris, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born June 18, 1920 in New Paris to Everett and Mayme (Smoker) Miller.
On March 29, 1947 he and Esther Bosler were married at the New Paris Church of the Brethren. She died June 17, 2002.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin B. (Norma) Miller, Jonathan L. Miller and Jeffrey H. (Lari) Miller, all of New Paris; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dana and two sisters, Jeanette Oakes and Lavida Immel.
A graduate of New Paris High School, Mr. Miller served as a medic with the US Army from 1944 to 46 in the European Theater and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He went on to graduate from Goshen College and teach at New Paris High School from 1950 -1955. For 28 ½ years Mr. Miller delivered mail in rural New Paris, retiring in 1983. Meanwhile he was also farming part-time with sons, Kevin and Jeffrey.
Visitation will be Friday, June 21, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. There will also be visitation Saturday, one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at New Paris Church of the Brethren.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to New Paris Church of the Brethren or One Community Faith and Family Ministries.
