Melvin “Jim” Yoder, 82, of Goshen died Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Goshen Hospital.
He was born January 26, 1940 in Middlebury to Manas E. and Louise (Schwietert) Yoder.
On July 3, 1960 he married Anna Mae Mast in Goshen.
She survives along with three children, Jodie (Greg) Robinson of Clare, Michigan, Patti (Phil) Miller of Middlebury, and Jeff (Beth) Yoder of Goshen; six grandchildren, Grant (Rachelle) Yoder, Garrett (Meghan) Yoder, Whitney Yoder, Amber (Jake) Wendt, Erinne (fiancé, Steve) Ernster and Keli Miller; and a great-grandson, Lincoln James Yoder.
Also surviving are two sisters, Leanna (Raymond) Yoder of Loogootee, and Becky (Edward) Arnold of Goshen; two brothers, John (Margaret) Yoder and David (Patty) Yoder, both of Middlebury; a sister-in-law, Elaine Yoder of Middlebury; and a brother-in-law, John Boley of British Columbia.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Yoder and a sister, Arlene Boley.
A life-long area resident, Mr. Yoder worked as a supervisor at Troyer Products, Elkhart prior to his retirement. He was a member at North Goshen Mennonite Church, Goshen for many years and currently was attending Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Jim was a faithful participant in Bible Study Fellowship. He enjoyed hunting and being able to volunteer at LoveWay, Inc., connecting with clients and taking care of the therapy horses.
Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather, always interested in his family’s activities. He shared his interest in old engines, particularly steam engines with those around him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen.
Burial will take place 9 a.m. Thursday, February 24, at Violett Cemetery, Goshen, followed by an 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 C. R. 11, Goshen. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate.
