Yvonne "Betty" Irelan

Yvonne M. “Betty” Irelan, 95, of Goshen died Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born May 13, 1931, in Elkhart, to Clifford and Geraldine (Southworth) McCavitt.

On December 17, 1948, she married James A. Irelan, Sr., in New Paris. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2003.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda (John) Lehman, of Naples, Florida, and Susan (Wayne) Hochstetler of Elkhart, son, James Irelan, Jr. of Bristol; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Candance (Lynn) Grove of Elkhart, and a sister-in-law, Tressie McCavitt also of Elkhart.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Irelan, daughter Nancy Irelan, and five brothers, Clifford, Richard, Jerry, James and Michael McCavitt, and sister, Jacqueline Hibshman.

Betty spent most of her life in Bristol, where she devoted her years to being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a member of Little Pine Church of the Brethren in Goshen. Her family was an important part of her life, and she leaves behind several generations of loved ones who will cherish her memory.

A graveside service will take place at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 1 p.m. Pastor Jason Miller, Living Hope Christian Fellowship will officiate.
