Wyndham Darnell, Jr., 86, of Goshen, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the home of his daughter, Sandra, after suffering a stroke on June 6. He was born February 28, 1926 in Saltville, Virginia, to Wyndham Darnell, Sr., and Mary (Aistrop) Darnell. He married Hazel F. McNew September 18, 1944 in Bristol, Tennessee. She preceded him in death May 15, 2012. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Kelley and Barbara Darnell, both of Goshen; a son, Jack (Dorothy) Darnell of South Bend; four grandchildren, Stacie Bobeck, Mark Darnell, Stephanie Baer, and Jamey Shidler; and a sister, Cindy Fowler, Bristol, Tennessee. A member of First Assembly of God, he worked in the mill room at Western Rubber for 25 years. Mr. Darnell served with the Navy during World War II. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2012, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Jason Kincaid will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
