Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Puckett, 98, died early Monday morning, December 19, 2011, at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. He had been ill since Wednesday. He was born March 9, 1913, in Madison County, Kentucky, to John W. and Susie Alice (Flitcher) Puckett. He married Mary Catherine Colvin in Goshen on March 16, 1935. She preceded him in death Aug. 25, 2003. He is survived by four daughters, Pat Gingerich of Goshen, Mary Louise Hoover of Mishawaka, Margaret (Michael) Romer of Algonquin, Illinois, and Pam (Christopher) Fiandt of Goshen; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a brother, Mike Puckett of Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by nine sisters and three brothers. An Elkhart County resident since 1946 and a member of the Wakarusa Missionary Church, Mr. Puckett owned and operated Puckett's Market in Wakarusa from 1954 62. He worked at Goshen Milk for 25 years and following his retirement, he worked at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home for 20 years. Friends may call 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2011 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 1 p.m., funeral service will be conducted. Rev. Douglas Beutler, a grandson, will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to Wakarusa Missionary Church.
