Winnie Maxine Haney, 81, of Goshen, died early Tuesday morning, May 29, 2007, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa. She was born October 8, 1925, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to Roy A. Ruth M. (Fulton) Ross. She married Worthie Bart Haney on November 24, 1946, in Buchanan, Michigan. He died November 26, 2001. A resident of Goshen since 1946, Mrs. Haney, graduated from Buchanan High School in 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Goshen, and the Women’s auxiliary of the F.O.P. She also served as den mother for the Cub Scouts and the Blue Birds for many years. She was a foster parent for 18 children over a nine year period. She is survived by two daughters, Marleita (James) Frisby of Spooner, Wisconsin and Cheryl (Dennis) Yoder of Goshen; three sons, Worthie B. (Sandra) Haney, II, of New Paris, and Dallas (Valerie) Haney and Terry J. Haney, both of Goshen; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Etolie (Wayne) Martin of Inman, South Carolina, and Lois (Howard) Johnson of Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by her husband, Worthie; a grandson, Jeremy Frisby; a great-grandson, Samuel Frisby; and a brother, Revilo Ross. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 31, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2007, funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Goshen. Rev. James Frisby, Mrs. Haney’s son-in-law, of the First Baptist Church of Spooner, Wisconsin, Rev. Greggory Lanzen and Rev. Jim Shrock of the First Baptist Church Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
