Wilma Jean Bixler, 82, of Goshen, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at her home.
She was born August 31, 1935 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Wilfred and June (Fyock) Dishong.
She married Donald R. Bixler on October 6, 1962 in New Windsor, Maryland.
He survives along with two children, Loren (Rhonda) Bixler of Goshen and Marcy (Gary) Morrolf of Fishers; three grandchildren, Courtney Long and Sarah and Ryan Morrolf; a sister, Shirley Flory of Butler, Pennsylvania and a brother, Richard Owen Dishong of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lois Hoffman.
Mrs. Bixler graduated from Adams Township High School, Sidman, Pennsylvania in 1953. She served with Brethren Voluntary Service in Falfurias Texas from 1954 to 1955. She then worked at the Brethren Service Center, New Windsor, Maryland where she met and married her husband.
She was an active member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren; singing with the choir, serving on the fellowship committee and decorating the church during the special church seasons.
Mrs. Bixler retired as a cafeteria manager for Goshen Community School in 2000 after 22 years.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Friends and family will meet 9:30 a.m., Thursday, at Yoder-Culp, to go in procession to Violett Cemetery for a graveside service. An 11 a.m. memorial service will follow at Goshen City Church of the Brethren. Pastor Bev Weaver will officiate.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
