Willie E. Honey, 75, of Elkhart, died unexpectedly Friday morning, February 14, 2014, in the emergency room at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was born February 5, 1939 in Busy Corner, Arkansas, to Ellis and Mary Otho (Hodge) Honey. On July 18, 1959 he married Ellen White in Elkhart. She survives along with four children, Roxane Honey of Elkhart, Sharon (Lawrence) Brooks of Saginaw, Michigan, and Connie (Dennis) Swathword and Willie E. (Tammy) Honey, both of Elkhart; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and a sister, Norine (George) Skelton of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Christina Honey; five brothers, Carl Junior, Ross, Harice, Sydney and Charlie Honey; and a sister, Louise Slabaugh. Mr. Honey retired in 2001 as a foundry supervisor from Adams Westlake, Elkhart. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his family. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Sheets, Northside Church of the Nazarene, Elkhart, will officiate. Burial will follow at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be to the family.
