Willie “Bill” G. Dumas, 88, of Goshen, died late Friday morning, March 13, 2009, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. He had been ill the past two years. He was born February 23, 1921, in Marshall County, Alabama, to William R. and Annie (Tidmore) Dumas. He married Beatrice May on June 7, 1947 in Chatsworth, Alabama. She survives. A metallurgist, Mr. Dumas worked for Dana Corporation for 23 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen and a past member of Hillsdale American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf and shuffleboard. He was a sports fan of all sports and teams. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; a daughter, Sheila K. (John) Dolph of Goshen; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Dumas. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Dumas and two sisters, Frances Padgett and Maedelmas Boone. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 16 at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Gregg Lanzen of First Baptist Church, Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or to the American Kidney Foundation.
