William M. Scott

William M. Scott, Sr., 85, of Cookeville, Tennessee, and formerly of Goshen, died early Friday morning, July 13, 2007, at the home of his son where he had been living. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on December 4, 1921, to Benjamin H. and Stella Ruby (Lancaster) Scott.  He married Harriett E. Tepper on September 28, 1940, in Mishawaka.  She died January 31, 2004. A 1940 graduated of Mishawaka High School, Mrs. Scott served in the US Navy during WWII.  He retired January 1987 as an assistant to the Plant Engineer at Whitehall Laboratory, Elkhart.  Prior to that he had worked as a tool and die designer at Star Machine, Penn Controls and Triangle Tool and Die. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Goshen, and the Stevens Street Baptist Church, Cookeville. He is survived by a daughter: Rebecca (Stan) Bielecki of San Jose, California; two sons, William M. (Lois) Scott, Jr. of Goshen, and Terry Lee (Carolyn) Scott of Cookeville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; a son, Marc Timothy Scott on December 24, 1998; a sister, Doris Ione Kerstetter and three brothers, Benjamin, Jesse and Ralph Scott. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 19, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Gregg Lanzen of the First Baptist Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church.
