William L. Schlabaugh

William L. Schlabaugh, 62, died Tuesday evening, November 17, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital.  He was born in Elkhart, Indiana, on April 5, 1947, to the late Donald Schlabaugh and Colleen (Perkins) Schlabaugh. She survives. He married Janice Osborne on October 22, 1966, at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2002.  Mr. Schlabaugh worked for the Elkhart Police Department; he retired in 1989 after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Saint Vincent Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Police #502.  He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Tony) Peters, Elkhart, Christine (Dave) Christman, Mishawaka; two sisters, Donna (Larry) Weldy, Elkhart, Diane (Jeff) Blankenberger, Kokomo; one brother, Bob Schlabaugh, Edwardsburg, Michigan; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  A 10 a.m., Friday, November 20, funeral service will be conducted at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Father Christopher Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made out to the American Liver Foundation.
