William Carl Runge

William “Bill” C. Runge, 85, of Elkhart, died Monday, November 30, 2020.

He was born January 28, 1935 in Fort Wayne to Herman and Helen (Fortmeyer) Runge.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara; two sons, David and Robert, 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Lou and Dorothy and a half-sister, Janice.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Miller) Runge; a daughter, Christine; and siblings, Harold, Herman, Wilma, Robert and Elmer,

Bill was a faithful blood donor and enjoyed being a van driver for Greencroft. After becoming blind, he continued being active by ringing bells for the Salvation Army and volunteering at World Missionary Press until he became paralyzed.  He was medically retired from the Marine Corp due to his eyesight.  He was a true loyal Cubs fan for decades.  All Bill wanted was visitors, especially during the 10 years he was in a nursing home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
