William Jennings Meadows, 86, of Goshen, died late Thursday night April 3, 2008, at his home. He had been in declining health the last few weeks. He was born in Jellico, Tennessee, on August 13, 1922, to William Troy and Nancy (Gillreith) Meadows. On August 12, 1939, he married Barbara P. Creekmore in Jellico. She survives. A Goshen resident since 1964, Mr. Meadows worked for Dexter Axel, a division of Phillips Industries for over 20 years, retiring in 1984. Prior to moving to Goshen he had worked as a coal miner and on the construction of Interstate 75. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Cathy Nusbaum of Goshen; three sons, William (Karen) Meadows of Edwardsburg, Michigan, John Meadows of Jellico, Tennessee, and Tedd Meadows of Goshen; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Bessie Jane Hughes and Goldie Stanfill; a grandson, Damon Meadows; a son-in-law, Thomas Stanfill; three sisters and two brothers. Friends may call 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday April 7, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:30 a.m., graveside service will be held at Hess Cemetery, Goshen. Pastor Tom Riggs, a cousin, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
