William W. Knapp, 59, of Sturgis, Michigan, died late Sunday night, July 7, 2013, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born November 29, 1953 at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, to John Isadore and Betty Ann (French) Knapp. They survive along with two brothers, Robert C. (Dana) Knapp, and John F. Knapp, both of Elkhart; and an aunt, Joan Ulery, of Middlebury. William was a 1971 graduate of Elkhart High School, and received his Bachelor's degree from Ball State University in 1982. He taught at North Side Middle School in Elkhart, and later worked as a social worker for the state of Michigan. Bill had a wide variety of interests; bird watching; being outdoors; reading anything, especially American History; and he had a great knowledge of Ohio art pottery. His body will be cremated at Yoder-Culp Crematory, with burial at a later date at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
