William M. Kelly

William M. Kelly, 85, of Goshen, died late Tuesday evening, September 12, 2006, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen.   He was born July 13, 1921, in Goshen, Indiana, to Albert and Ella (Montine) Kelly.  He married Lucile J. (Dandino) Shanle on August 27, 1974.  She died in September 1998.   A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Kelly, owned and operated Better Machine Company in Goshen.  A 1939 Goshen High School graduate, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen.   Mr. Kelly served with the Marines during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.  He was a member of the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans and Pearl Harbor, 2nd Marine Division Association; as well as the VFW Post #985, the DAV Post #15 and the Goshen Masonic Lodge #12.   He is survived by a son, James C. Kelly of Three Rivers, Michigan; a step-daughter, Pamela (David) Walker of Elkhart, Indiana; a step-son, Edward Murray of Union, Michigan; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his wife; a step-son, Patrick Murray in March 1998; four sisters, Gladys Protsman, Truth Montague, Jane Smith and June Mardis; and three brothers, Frank, Maurice, and Alfred Kelly.   Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 18, at the funeral home.   A 10:00 a.m. service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Rev. Myron Bontrager of Downtown @ 808 will officiate.   Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen with military color guard and flag presentation.   Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW #985 or DAV #15.
