William “Bill” Gunden, Jr. was born on December 27, 1930 to William and Naomi (n é e Grieser) Gunden in Montpelier, Ohio.
Bill married Evelyn Rocke on June 2, 1955. They had five children before they divorced. He married Nell Oxner on October 4,1975.
After farming in Illinois for 10 years, Bill returned to Indiana to work in construction with his cousin Orville Gunden, then worked as a construction superintendent for Wright Construction. In his later years Bill owned a small business in Harrison, Arkansas.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrison and an active member of Rusty Wheels Old Engine Club.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Nell, his parents, his brother, Marlin Gunden, and his sisters, Donna Belle Holdeman and Darlene Ropp.
He is survived by his sister, Treva (Richard) Ritthaler, his children, Kent Gunden, Sherri (Delmar) King, Dennis (Kimberly) Gunden, Carla Gunden, Marla (Dennis) Peak, Lisa Oxner Hanna, Tim (Amber) Oxner, his grandchildren Christopher (Jenna) Gunden, Nathan Peak, Anthony (Natalie) Peak, Joseph King, Elizabeth Gunden, Lauren King, Lindsey (Jared) Frick, Kara Oxner, Andrew Oxner, William Chad Oxner, Kelly (Joshua) Tyree West, Kristi (John) Tyree Adams, Myles Shafer, and several great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday, Jan. 19, from 4 until the 6 p.m. memorial service at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. Greencroft Chaplain Randy Roth will officiate.
Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Arkansas in the early spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to MDC Goldenrod.
