William H. Fairweather, 76, of Syracuse, died late Saturday afternoon, December 29, 2007, at Hospice House in South Bend. He was born in Cochranton, Pennsylvania, on May 2, 1931, to Irvin A. and Goldie (Murray) Fairweather. He married Pauline L. Spangler in New Paris on June 26, 1976. She died December 6, 2007. A Goshen resident since 1967, Mr. Fairweather drove truck for Smokercraft in New Paris. He was a member of the First Brethren Church in New Paris and VFW. He participated in 4-H open class gardening and flowering, winning many Grand Champion ribbons. He is survived by four daughters, Lorrie L. Bruegel of Greenfield; Deborah J. (John) Richardson of Goshen, Tamara (Joel Victor) Sheldon of Elkhart and Tena M. (Bill) Fender of Holiday, Florida; two sons, Michael O. Fairweather of Florida and Gerald A. Livings of Madison, Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Verda Woods of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Patty (Charles) Campbell of Norton, Massachusetts and Charlotte (Russell) Hughes of Manassas, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; a son, Jeffrey L. Livings and two sisters, Vivian Hughes and Phyllis Knapp. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2008, funeral service will be held at the First Brethren Church in New Paris. Pastor Ted Schowengerdt of the First Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be in Baintertown Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to First Brethren Church, New Paris or Center for Hope and Palliative Care, Inc.
