William B. Evans, 88, of Bristol, died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at home after a 10-month illness.
He was born September 13, 1930 in Goshen to Duerill and Gladys (Wogoman) Evans.
On April 28, 1951 he married Betty Ann Miller in Goshen. She died September 26, 2018.
Survivors include four children, Carl (Tori) Evans of Bristol, Brenda (Doyle) Weaver of New Paris, Linda (Sanford) Slagel of Goshen and Sandra (Kimber) Kalb of Middlebury; 10 grandchildren; 24, soon to be 25, great-grandchildren; one, soon to be two, great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Deloris (Vern) Stewart of Santa Margarita, California, Jerry (Sally) Evans and Diane Maloney, both of Goshen and Roger (Ginger) Evans of Elkhart.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Dennis and Phillip Evans, Devera Elmore and Dorothy Hoover.
A lifetime resident of Jefferson Township, Mr. Evans farmed the same land for more than 60 years. He had also worked as a tool and die man and along with his wife, owned and operated Bill Evans Insurance for more than 40 years.
He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict from 1949 to 1952.
He was a 50-year member of George Washington Lodge and a past Master and 32 nd degree Mason.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 23, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2019, funeral service will be conducted. Rev. Tim Yoder will officiate.
Burial, with military honors, will follow in Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
The Evans family extends its gratitude to Goshen Home Care and Hospice for the care they so tenderly provided.
Memorials may be given to Little Pine Church of the Brethren or Goshen Hospice.
