William McKinley Eaton, 87, of Molalla, Oregon, formerly of Osceola, died Friday, August 26, 2011, in Molalla. He was born in Rockford, Illinois, on April 10, 1924 to the late Melvin and Myrtle (Tarlton) Eaton. He married Alice Sapen in March 1949, Betty A. Bainter on August 25, 1990; and Helen Constable in May 2005. All preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Vicky (Douglas) Reafsnyder of Molalla, Oregon; two sons, Michael Eaton and Ralph (Van) Eaton, both of Elkhart; a step-son, Jim McDaniels of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Thursby; a sister, Jeanette Tobas and a brother, Andrew Eaton. An area resident from 1946 to 2005, Mr. Eaton served in the US Navy during World War II as a torpedo man. A carpenter, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for 20 years, helping to build 80 houses. He enjoyed trips to Oregon, Florida, Alaska and other cruises. He was a very giving and generous man, sharing his time and his resources. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 2, at the funeral home. An 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Pennington of Foxwood Hills Worship Center officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be given to Habitat for Humanity or Hospice Care.
