William L. Coons, 86, of Goshen, passed away at Greencroft Healthcare Saturday evening, November 21, 2015, after an extended illness.
He was born June 28, 1929 in Hartford City to John and Flossie (McNickles) Coons.
On August 12, 1950 he married Jannalee M. Martin in Elwood. She died June 15, 2004.
He is survived by four daughters, Marjorie (Delmar) Pryor of Hartford City, Deanna Warren of Marion, Fern (James) Bontrager of Goshen and Angela Coons of Marion; two sons, Bill (Kathy) Coons, Jr. and Michael Coons, both of Hartford City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; two grandsons, Steve Bontrager and Michael Coons, Jr.; three infant great-grandchildren; an infant great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Jack and Bob Coons; a sister, Sharon Patterson; and two half sisters, Maxine Black and Bonnie Coons.
A Goshen resident since 2000, Mr. Coons worked for 3M making paper, rope and nylon tape. He was a member of Lighthouse Family Worship Center.
Mr. Coons, a generous and good hearted man, was an active clown and donated his time and talents by going to schools, children’s parties and other social events.
Friends may call Friday, November 27, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the 12, noon funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
Cremation will follow and burial will be at Rock Run Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
