William "Bill" Yoder

William J. (Bill) Yoder, 86, Goshen, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at Waterford Crossing Health Campus. He was born June 27, 1940, in Yoder, Kansas, to Joseph W. and Lydia (Mullet) Yoder.

On October 29, 1966, Bill married Patricia (Lawrence) in Elkhart. She survives.

Bill was a hardworking and devoted man who spent much of his working life in the RV industry. He worked in construction before becoming a laborer at Holiday Rambler RV. He took great pride in his work and was someone who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.

Bill has been a member of Jefferson Community Church (formerly Jefferson Brethren Church) for many years. His faith was reflected not only in his church membership, but by the way he lived his life. He enjoyed volunteering for church projects, particularly those involving building and property upkeep. He also generously volunteered at the Brethren Retreat Center in Shipshewana. Bill was always willing to help someone in need, often quietly giving his time and talents without expecting anything in return.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time in nature and camping. Music also held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed playing with Promissory Notes dulcimer group for many years. Those who knew Bill will remember his gentle spirit, his willingness to work, and his genuine care for others.

Surviving in addition to his wife Pat, are his daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Soncarty, Middlebury and Kristin (Robb) Huber, Goshen, seven grandchildren: Justin Archer, Jeremy Archer, Kolin (Abby) Erb, Joli Erb, Evan Huber, and Emily Huber, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are brothers David (Linda) Yoder, Vernon Yoder, Larry (Marcia) Yoder and Richard (Pam) Yoder; and a sister Marti (Hank) Bontrager.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Koby Alexander Erb; great-grandson, Thomas Jeremy Archer; brothers Robert Yoder and Joseph Yoder; a sister Betty Sue Ecklebarger, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 10, at Jefferson Community Church, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Ken Hunn will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.

Bill leaves behind a beautiful legacy of service, kindness and quiet generosity. His willingness to help, his love of the outdoors, his music and, most of all, the love he shared with his family and church community will long be remembered.
