Wilbur K. Ross 74, of Goshen, died Tuesday morning, January 29, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born April 30, 1938 in Morgan County, Kentucky, to Garnel and Elsie (Wilson) Ross. He married Fern Sexton in West Liberty, Kentucky, on May 13, 1961. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Sheila (Richard) Stilley, Anita (Wally) Blankenship, Becky Ross, and Vicki (Richard) Vanover, all of Goshen; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Jean Horn of Fairfield, Ohio, Christine Wheeler Kemplin of West Liberty, Kentucky, Mary Jane (Larry) Lower of Goshen, Delores Ross of LuGoff, South Carolina, Brenda (Al) Maurer of Goshen, and Lucy (Lydia) Ross of LuGoff, South Carolina; and two brothers, William (Shirley) Ross of Irvine, Kentucky, and Edison Ross of LuGoff, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen Vest. A local resident since 1962, he remained an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan, but also included the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds teams with his devotion. He enjoyed small game hunting, freshwater fishing, playing cards, and bingo. He also raised beagle and coon dogs, and enjoyed bluegrass music. Mr. Ross had a real green thumb, and took great pride in his vegetable and flower gardens. His greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play sports. Friends may call Thursday, January 31, 2013, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2013, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Burial will follow at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
