Wilbur W. Long

Wilbur W. Long, 95, of Elkhart, died Saturday morning, January 8, 2011 at his son’s home. He was born on March 4, 1915 in Clinton Township to the late William N. and Katie (McCammon) Long.  He married Verda Cleone Berkey on December 23, 1945 in Elkhart.  She died February 5, 2000. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie (Ray) Decker and two sons, John W. (Pat) Long and Keith W. (Kimberley) Long, all of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Jacobs. A 1933 graduate of Millersburg High School, Mr. Long served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater.  He was self employed as a carpenter, retiring in 1979. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2011, funeral service will be conducted. Burial will follow in Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Missionary Church or donor’s charity of choice.
