Wilbur E. Hostetler, 92, of Goshen, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, LaGrange.
He was born November 29, 1924 in a farmhouse on C.R. 38, Goshen to Edward W. and Mary Edna (Yoder) Hostetler.
On May 15, 1949 he married Donna L. Blough in Topeka.
She survives along with two daughters, Bernita Hagerman of Great Falls, Montana and Anita (Tom) Lane of Goshen and a granddaughter, Allison (Clinton) Beck of Fort Wayne.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Bernard and Bruce, born prematurely August 9, 1951; two brothers, Glen and Clifford; two sisters, Mabel (William) Hostetler and Arloine (Leslie) Schoomaker and a son-in-law, Stephen Hagerman.
Mr. Hostetler was employed 12 years at Salem Bank, four years at First National Bank of Elkhart as the Bristol branch manager. He served four terms as Elkhart County Treasurer and a term as a Goshen City councilman. He and his wife also owned Cripe’s Septic Cleaning for 11 years.
He served in the Philippines during World War II. He was a past president of the Goshen Jaycees, a life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and served on many organizations and committees. In retirement he volunteered at First United Methodist Church, Goshen, Salvation Army and Benton Elementary School.
Friends may call Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Goshen, where a 10:45 a.m. memorial service will be conducted. Pastor Ed Fritz will officiate.
A private graveside service will be held at Violett Cemetery.
