Wilbert “Cal” Streeter, 87, of Topeka, died peacefully at his home on May 7, 2026. He was born in Hope, Michigan on December 20, 1938, to Wilbur “Bill” Streeter and Mabel (Schearer) Streeter. He later married Mariwyn (Bonner) Streeter in August of 1962 in Saginaw.
Cal is survived by his loving wife, Mariwyn Streeter; his children, Cal (Charisse) Streeter of Michigan City, Charisse-Anna Wenger of Bradenton, Florida, J. Richard (Kris) Streeter of Orland, Indiana, Nathan (Stephanie) Streeter of Grayslake, Rebekah (Jim) Heather of Union, Nebraska, Dr. Michael (Sonya) Streeter of Christiana, Tennessee and Jim (Wendy) Streeter of Dunlap; as well as his siblings, Dr. Dennis (Julie) Streeter of Beverly Shores and Jane (Forrest “Sonny”) Lambeth of Schererville as well as 35 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Joy Heady VanderWoude.
Wilbert devoted his life to caring for others as a family practice physician in Highland and later in Shipshewana. Medicine was not only his profession, but one of his greatest passions. He also loved sports, enjoyed golfing — albeit, as he would say, badly — and was an avid reader who cherished continually learning and staying informed on the latest information. Above all, Cal had a deep passion for Christ and for spreading God’s word to others throughout his life.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with a private burial to take place at Memory Lane Memorial Park Cemetery in Schererville, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be directed to LaGrange Baptist Church.
