Wendell C. Yoder, 83, of Plano, Texas and formerly of Goshen, died May 6, 2019, at Texas Presbyterian Hospital, Plano, after a brief illness.
He was born February 23, 1936 in Wakarusa to C. Maynard and Esther (Hartman) Yoder.
On June 15, 1958 he married Margaret Ann Kistler. She died May 4, 1989. On August 4, 1989 he married Jo Ann (Alwine) Brandt. She died July 21, 2013. On April 25, 2014 he married Bobbye Brady.
She survives along with a daughter, Kris Garris of Elkhart; sons, Mitchell (Andrea) Yoder of Hartford, Michigan and Tony (Joanna) Yoder of Oregon; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne (Nancy) Yoder and Roger (Judy) Yoder, both of Goshen, Shirley (Tom) Hershberger of Belen, New Mexico and Stanley (Janette) Yoder of Bloomfield, Colorado and numerous step-children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, a son, Matthew Yoder and a granddaughter, Allison Yoder.
Mr. Yoder served with the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He owned and operated Yoder & Company Insurance Agency for 26 years; worked as a salesman in the men’s department at Kline’s and served as a Mennonite minister in several congregations for 10 years.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 12, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
There will be a private funeral service and burial.
Memorial contributions may be given to Cancer Resources for Elkhart County.
