Wendell Eugene Hardesty, Sr., 64, Goshen, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. He had been in failing health for about ten years. He was born February 3, 1943 in Goshen to Jess and Helen (Cripe) Hardesty and lived locally all of his life. On December 7, 1984 in Toledo, Ohio he married Camille Chrisman. He was a member of the Goshen Auxiliary DAV #15; Goshen Eagles #1526; an avid bowler and pitched horseshoes. He worked as a welder in the recreational vehicle industry, most recently for Van American RV’s. He also worked as an independent contractor for the Goshen News. Surviving are his wife, Camille, Goshen; two sons, Wendell Hardesty, Jr., Indiana, Virgil Hardesty, Warsaw; three sisters, Joyce Kline, Three Rivers, Michigan, Myrtle Hickey, Jefferson, Tennessee, and Mary (Wallace) VanHook, Goshen; four brothers, Jess Hardesty, Richard Hardesty, Charles (Shirley) Hardesty, and Robert Hardesty, all of Goshen. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Marion VanNuys, Daisy Todd, Shirley Hardesty; and one infant brother, Dale Hardesty. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007, with DAV Chaplain Warren Swartz officiating. Interment will follow at West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to the to the Hardesty Family.
