Goshen-Wayne Lambright, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Feb 17, at his winter home in Sarasota Florida.
He was born Feb 4, 1940, in Middlebury, Indiana to Clarence and Dorothy (Gustafson Naugle) Lambright.
On June 9, 1962, he married Lois Swedberg in Morton, Illinois.
He is survived by two children, Trent (Kimberly) Lambright, LaGrange, Illinois and Tina (Andrew) Sicari, Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren, Katlyn, Logan, Fiona, Reagan, Isabella and Ethan; two sisters, Deloris Pettengill Ottumwa Iowa, Meredith Yoder Goshen Indiana, and two brothers Warren (Janice) Lambright Tennessee, Michael (Rose) Lambright Pennsylvania.
Along with his parents and one brother Glenn Lambright, he was preceded in death by a son, Todd Lambright.
Wayne graduated from Goshen College in 1962 and later earned a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University, Ohio. He enjoyed learning and continued to take classes at various universities throughout the years. Wayne worked in a Hospital Lab in Puerto Rico for 2 years while doing Voluntary Service. He went on to predominately teach Math and Computers for more than 40 years.
Sports were a big part of Wayne’s life. He played college baseball and basketball at Goshen College and went on to be one of the longest running Coaches at Goshen High School. He coached golf, basketball, baseball and track at various times in his coaching career. He was also an avid golfer and member of Maplecrest Country Club for close to 50 years where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Wayne was also inducted into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame and the Indiana Golf Coaches Hall of Fame.
Wayne pioneered the first computer lab at Goshen High Schol and throughout his life continued to enjoy learning about computers and coding as it was ever changing. He also enjoyed singing. While in his youth he and his twin Warren would often sing at weddings and after retirement he enjoyed singing with the men’s group at Sarasota Community Church in Sarasota, FL.
He was a member of College Mennonite Church where a memorial service will be held on May 9, 2026 at 1:00pm. No formal visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Wayne and Lois Lambright Foundation which will serve the purpose of helping encourage education. Checks may be made out to the Wayne and Lois Lambright Foundation and mailed to Trent Lambright at 25 South Spring Avenue LaGrange Illinois 60525.
