Walter J. Wagner, Jr., 83, of Bristol died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his home.
He was born October 7, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Walter J. and Margaret (Fink) Wagner.
On December 18, 1962 he married Mary Brown.
She survives along with sons, Douglas A. (Teresa) Wagner and Paul A. (Sheila) Wagner, both of Goshen; grandchildren, Kari (Derrek) Ten Brook, Cory (Anglia) Dobbins, Samantha Templeton, Jessie (Tim Bailey) Wagner, Malik and Kylor Wagner; great-grandchildren, Kailee, Paiton, Tyler, Keera, Cory II, Riley, Maci and Keegan; nephew, Ken (Verna) Wilock of North Carolina; and niece, Karen (Michel) Dwyer of Pittsburgh.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara J. and Charles Paisley.
Walter was a 1953 graduate of Brentwood High School, Pittsburgh, and 1957 graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, where he was a member of Theta Xi.
A U.S. Army veteran, Walt served with the Signal Corps in Germany. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service and operated a small appraisal company in Marietta, Ohio.
He served as elder, deacon, and trustee in various Presbyterian Churches. Upon moving to Elkhart County in 2001, he became a member at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen.
He was also a member of the American Society of Foresters and former Lions Club member.
Friends may call Monday, March 26, 2018 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Chaplain John Schrock, Harbor Light Hospice, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorial gifts may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Goshen.
