Walter “Arch” Aschliman, 91, of Goshen, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born August 17, 1925 in Fort Wayne to Sam and Anna (Plank) Aschliman.
On February 2, 1951 he married Ida Delores Arns at First Baptist Church, Oak Park, Illinois. She died March 4, 2005.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Mark R. (Patricia) Aschliman of Naples, Florida; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Anna, Samuel; five sisters, Mary Swartzendruber of Goshen, Dorothy Anklam of Saginaw, Michigan, Annabelle Emmert of Goshen, Betty Lambright and Carolyn (Jimmy) Stephens, both of Venice, Florida; and two brothers, John Aschliman of Goshen and Dale (Phyllis) Aschliman of Sarasota, Florida;
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Ada Heller and Rosa Grime and a brother, Ervin Aschliman.
Mr. Aschliman spent the majority of his adult life in the Chicago area, moving to Goshen upon retirement in 1995
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Aschliman attended Purdue University and graduated from University of North Carolina with a degree in engineering. He was a manufacturer’s agent and owner of A to Z Sales.
Friends may call Thursday, December 22, 2016, from 10 until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft, Goshen. Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery.
