Walter Dintaman, 81, died Wednesday evening, November 10, 2010, at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart. He was born on December 9, 1928 to the late William and Susan (Seidner) Dintaman in McBrides, Michigan. On June 2, 1962 he married Clara Wideman. She survives. Also surviving are daughters, Linda (Jim) Martin, Apex. North Carolina, and Lisa (Gregg) Skinner, The Woodlands, Texas; four grandchildren; a sister, Inez Lauber of Grants Pass, Oregon; and brothers Lester Dintaman of Hubbard, Oregon, and Glen Dintaman of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Dintaman graduated from Vestaburg High School (Michigan) and then from Michigan State University in 1950. He was inducted into the academic honor society Phi Kappa Phi that year. He served his 1W alternate service with Mennonite Central Committee’s PAX in Germany from 1952-1954. He retired as plant engineer from NIBCO, Elkhart, where he worked for 39 years. He was an Indiana Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant operator and registered Environmental Manager. He was a member of North Goshen Mennonite Church where he taught adult Sunday school for many years. He also served on the grounds and landscape committee. Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, November 14, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A private internment will take place on Monday, November 15, 2010, at Rice Mausoleum, Elkhart, followed by a public memorial service at North Goshen Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dean Linsenmeyer officiating. Memorials may be given to Wycliffe Bible Translators or North Goshen Mennonite Church.
