Vivian P. Stoffel, 88, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday morning, February 26, 2014, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born September 22, 1925 in Lowville, New York to Aaron M. and Pearl B. (Reyn) Zehr. On May 1, 1949 she married J. Louis Stoffel, Jr. at 8th Street Mennonite Church. He died May 4, 2009. She is survived by a son, Don (Rosilynn) Stoffel and a daughter, Terri (Danny) Jones, both of Middlebury; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cal (Emma) Zehr, Goshen, and Melvin (Norma) Zehr, Lowville, New York; a sister, Jane (Melvin) Birky, Denver, Colorado.; and a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Zehr, Watertown, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Hilton Zehr in 1977; a sister, Mary Lehman in 2010 and a brother-in-law, Addison Lehman in 2008. A Goshen resident since 1949, Mrs. Stoffel was a member of Christian Fellowship and a former member of 8th Street Mennonite Church where she was involved in various activities. A graduate of Goshen College, she owned and operated, with her husband, Lincoln Avenue Schwinn in Goshen. She had also worked at Chase Bag Factory, River View Florist and Plank's Printing, all of Goshen. For many years, she and her husband wintered in Florida and Fort Mill, South Carolina. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2014, and one hour prior to the 1 p.m., funeral service on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Craig Garber, Christian Fellowship, will officiate. Burial will follow at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association and Greencroft Foundation.
