Vivian Mae George

August 11, 1946 — January 6, 2025

Vivian Mae George, 78, of Goshen, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at Goshen Hospital. Her deepest desire was to be a devoted follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.  As vast as her love was for her family and her passion for life, Vivian treasured her precious Savior, Jesus above all.  She was overwhelmed by God's love in that He died for her sins so she might live with Him for eternity. She shared of her faith in Jesus often with people she encountered. We talked regularly of how to reach more people with the good news of what Christ has done, praying that the Lord would bring those people into our lives, allowing us to share of the hope we have. We desired to see as many as possible come to a saving knowledge of Jesus, thus saving them from the pain of eternal suffering for their trespasses. Up to the very end of her time on earth, she praised her Jesus and spoke of Him to all who would listen. She was always thirsty, drinking in His Word:

She was born August 11, 1946, in Monmouth, Illinois to Harold and Hilma (Swanson) Hallberg.

Survivors include her loving husband, Chet George; daughters, Rebecca (Ryan) Edwards of Springfield, Missouri, and Rachel (Dustin) George-Miller of Goshen; seven grandchildren, Hannah Ruth Edwards, Nathanael George Edwards, Thaddeus Schultz Edwards, Seth Titus Edwards, Isabelle Rachel Edwards, Norah Catherine George-Miller and Levi Trennis George-Miller; and two sisters, Jeanette Hallberg and Ruth Baylor.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Shirley Cleland, Leon Hallberg, Joyce Johnson, and Milton Hallberg.

Vivian was a pediatric nurse. She was also an educator, home-schooling her girls. Her family describes her as a “perfect wife” and loving mother and grandmother.

Vivian had a passion for antiques and loved to sew 1930’s era aprons and comforting shrugs.  She really enjoyed fun times with grandkids and even helping home-school them at times.  And, most importantly, introducing people to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory, Goshen.

A memorial service will be held at Sugar Grove Church, Goshen on the 25th of Jan 2025 @ 10:30 AM.
