Virginia L. Tackett, 83, of Goshen, died Thursday evening, June 1, 2006, at Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart. She had been in failing health the past three months. She was born December 30, 1922, in Lima, Ohio, to Chauncy and Effie (Rumsey) Clay. On September 14, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, she married Robert W. Tackett. He preceded her on July 3, 1973. Mrs. Tackett moved to Goshen in 1984, coming from Lima. She worked as a bookkeeper for Neon Company. She was a member of the Jefferson Brethren Church, Goshen and the South Side Christian Church, Lima, Ohio. She volunteered as a bookkeeper for the Adult Literacy Program. She also volunteered at The Window and Oaklawn. She is survived by a daughter, Theresa Brunson of Goshen, Indiana; two grandchildren, Andrew and Laura; and a great-grandson, A.J. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and a brother, Fredrick Clay. Friends will be received 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 4, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 9:30 a.m. service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2006, at the Jefferson Brethren Church, Goshen. Pastor Ron Spyker will officiate. Friends will then be received on Monday evening, June 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Chiles & Sons Laman Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Lima, Ohio. A 10 a.m. graveside service will be held in Memorial Park, Lima, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 6, 2006. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
