Virginia Elizabeth Smith

Virginia Elizabeth Smith, 95, of Goshen, passed away early Monday morning, July 2, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare. She was born April 21, 1917 in Kendallville to Chester and Laura Irene (Pendroy) Alheim. She married Paul Geyer in 1939 and he died in May 1944. She then married China B. Smith July 5, 1947. He died October 6, 1989. She is survived by a daughter, Paula (Rex) Hollinger, Goshen; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marsha Lee Smith; two brothers, Chester and Max Alheim: and a sister, Betty Smith. She was a longtime Goshen resident and a homemaker. Family and friends will meet at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012 to go in procession to Violett Cemetery for a graveside service. Rex Hollinger, son-in-law, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
