Virginia "Nicky" Mae Metzler, 85, of Goshen, died early Saturday morning, December 31, 2011, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born September 24, 1926 in Dunlap to the late John and Dorothy (Brumbaugh) Warner. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (David) Huser of Goshen, and Sharon (Jim) Piechorowski of Elkhart; two granddaughters, Jennifer Havlish and Devon Brugh, both of Elkhart; a grandson, Frank Piechorowski of Memphis, Tennessee; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Carol; a sister, Martha (Allen) Deal of Harlingen, Texas; and a brother, Richard (Jan) Warner of Cedar City, Utah. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Graczyk and Marjorie Markley. A lifelong area resident, Ms. Metzler graduated from Goshen High School in 1944. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and volunteered with Lifeline Youth for Christ. She supported both local and foreign missions. She retired from General Telephone where she worked as a switchboard operator for both the Goshen and Elkhart offices. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 3 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012, funeral service will be conducted at Faith United Methodist Church, Goshen. Pastor Larry Kurtz will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or Lifeline Youth for Christ.
