Virginia Claxton, 79, of White Pigeon, Michigan and formerly of Goshen, died Wednesday evening, December 18, 2013, at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born April 24, 1934 in Mishawaka to Russell and Ila (Sudlow) Claxton. She is survived by a brother, Richard E. Claxton of White Pigeon, Michigan; a nephew, David Claxton of Elkhart; a niece Susan Stoneburner of Alamo, Michigan; and two grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A longtime Goshen resident, she moved to White Pigeon several years ago to a retirement community. She had many years of clerical experiences, having worked at Goshen College, Mennonite Mutual Aid and Jayco, Inc. until her retirement in 1999. A 1951 graduate of White Pigeon High School, she was affiliated with a non-denominational church in both Goshen and White Pigeon. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 2 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2013 funeral service will be conducted. Greg Harger will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
