Virginia E. Burger, 101, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Goshen Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born June 19, 1915 in Branch County, Michigan to George and Mary Inez (Cookingham) Burnside.
On February 1, 1936 she married Wilbur I. Burger. He died May 24, 1991.
Mrs. Burger is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Dorothy Himebaugh.
A 1933 graduate of Brighton High School, she was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren.
She enjoyed playing piano and accordion duets with her sister, Dorothy. She also loved horse races. Other interests included reading and keeping up with family.
She worked as a waitress at The Dixie in Goshen in the 1940’s and later worked at New Paris Creamery.
Friends may call Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service at Goshen City Church of the Brethren. Pastor Bev Weaver will officiate.
Burial will follow in Trayer Cemetery, Branch County, Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be given to Heifer International or the church.
