Virgil K. Campbell, 88, of Goshen, died early Tuesday morning, January 24, 2012, at his home after an extended illness. He was born June 9, 1923 in Hillsboro, Illinois, to the late John and Lillie (Callahan) Campbell. He married Doris F. Furness on October 18, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri. She died September 15, 2010. He is survived by a daughter, Claudia (Evan) St. Germain of Goshen; a son, Kenneth (Carol) Campbell of Kokomo; two grandsons, Eric (Jessica) St. Germain of Elkhart and Gregory Campbell of Denver, Colorado; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne (Ruth) Campbell of Wood River, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christine St. Germain in 2007; four brothers and a sister. A Goshen resident since 1946, he graduated in 1940 from Hillsboro High School. Mr. Campbell retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an agent after 20 years of service. Following retirement he worked at 1st National Bank of Elkhart and most recently with Associated Delivery Systems. A member of First United Methodist Church, Goshen, he served with the US Army during World War II in England and France. Friends may call an hour before the 11 a.m., funeral service on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastoral Assistant Pamela Kling will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Goshen.
