Violetta Mishler

Violetta Mishler, 106, of LaGrange, formerly of Topeka, died Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2006, at Miller’s Merry Manor in LaGrange. She was born March 19, 1900, in Honeyville, Indiana, to Daniel V. and Fanny (Yoder) Yoder.  On June 24, 1923, in LaGrange County, she married Howard E. Mishler.  He died December 19, 1977.   Mrs. Mishler, a homemaker, was a member of the Emma Mennonite Church where she was involved with the ladies’ sewing and Bible studies.  She was also involved in the LaGrange Garden Club, LaGrange County Senior Citizens, Women in Missions and Joining Hands Group.  She enjoyed working with plants and flowers.   She is survived by a son, Stanley E. (Norma) Mishler of LaGrange, Indiana; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harley Yoder of LaGrange, Indiana.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; a daughter, MaryEtta Schrock in 2001; three brothers, Albert, Elva and Leo Yoder; and two sisters, Mabel Miller and Birdena Yoder.   Friends will be received 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Emma Mennonite Church, 1900S 600W in Topeka.   Rev. Gene Hartman will officiate at the 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2006, service at the church.   Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.   Memorial contributions may be given to Emma Mennonite Church for Women in Missions or LaGrange County Council on Aging.
