Violet Peachey, 74, of Goshen, passed away early Sunday morning, July 5, 2015, at her home after a short illness. She was born in Goshen on September 23, 1940 to Leo and Viola (Kauffman) Harshberger. On October 7, 1961 she married Robert J. Peachey in Goshen. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Steve) Vail of Millersburg; two grandchildren, Brock (Brook) and Brett Vail; three great-grandchildren, Shyan, Sophia and Tessa; and two sisters, Mary Louise Jones of White Cloud, Michigan and Jane (Elva) Yoder of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Rodney A. Peachey and a brother, Raymond Harshberger. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mrs. Peachey was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church. She had served as president of Chamberlin School's PTO and worked as a nurse's aid for 17 years. She also helped with her husband's business, Harshberger Insulation and was an Amish taxi driver. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and easily made friends across the country while driving Amish. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Friends may call Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft and from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be directed to Center for Hospice Care.
