Violet Jane "Duke" Reader Wimmer

Violet Jane “Duke” Reader Wimmer, 76, of New Paris, died Sunday afternoon, November 22, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Greta Burtsfield.  She had battled cancer for almost four years.  She was born to Walter and Ida (Mosser) Reader on February 10, 1933, in Woodboro, Wisconsin.  She married Charles L. Wimmer on February 27, 1954, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.  He survives.   Violet was a homemaker and worked at Red Owl Stores in Appleton, Merrill, and Rhinelander, Wisconsin.  She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1951.  Following her marriage, they lived in Tacoma, Washington, for one year.  They then moved to Gleason, Wisconsin where they farmed for 19 years.  She also worked at Merrill Manufacturing in Merrill, Wisconsin.  They moved to Nappanee/New Paris area in 1974 coming from Gleason, Wisconsin, where she worked at Heartland paper plate factory for six years.  She was an avid gardener, planting flowers and trees in her numerous flower gardens.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Ada (Lyle) Miller of Nappanee, Teresa (Tom Cline) Wimmer of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Greta (Tim) Burtsfield of Millersburg, and Debbie (Dan) Ostrander of Goshen; three sons, Thomas (Sandy) Wimmer of Argos, Indiana, Mark (Najwa) Wimmer of Syracuse, Indiana, and Daniel Wimmer of New Paris; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by seven brothers, John, George, Raymond, Clarence, Francis, Walter, and Donald Reader, and two sisters, Ida Parker and Marjorie Rudis.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen and 9-11 a.m., Saturday, November 28, at Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.    An 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2009, funeral service will be held at Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.        Burial will be at Northland Memorial Park in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family care of Greta Burtsfield.
