Viola M. Stark Chrispyn

Viola M. Stark Chrispyn, 98, of Goshen, died Saturday evening, April 5, 2014 at the Maples at Waterford Crossing. She was born April 30, 1915 in Middlebury to Jasper and Clara (Weaver) Sherck. On May 18, 1941 she married Lewis R. Stark in Middlebury. He died August 10, 1994. She married Paul W. Chrispyn in Goshen, April 29, 1997. He died April 24, 2009. Surviving are three daughters, Donna Lantis, of Nappanee, Bonita (Larry) Christensen, of Houghton, New York, Janet (William) Swigert, of Nashville, Indiana; a son, Roger (Michaeleen) Stark, of Milford; a step-daughter, Nancy Hoover, of Goshen; two step-sons, Jack (Karen) Chrispyn, of Goshen, Larry Chrispyn, of San Pablo, California; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and nine step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both spouses; two sisters, Mary Mishler and Lucille West Rupel; and six brothers, Truman, Willis, Harvey, Noble, Arthur and Junior Sherck. Mrs. Chrispyn was a lifelong area resident who taught in the Concord and Middlebury school districts. She was a member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren where she was active in the Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed participating in local garden clubs and home extension groups. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 funeral service at West Goshen Church of the Brethren, 1200 Berkey Avenue, Goshen. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to Heifer International or the West Goshen Church of the Brethren.
