Viola M. Nusbaum, 99, of Goshen, died Monday morning, August 8, 2011, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Fort Wayne on November 29, 1911. She was adopted by the late John and Fannie (Tyson) Mecum. She married Elmer J. Nusbaum on September 24, 1932 in Petoskey, Michigan. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1993. She is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Jerry) Cripe of Goshen, and Helen (Jack) Koedoot of Janison, Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Nusbaum of Bristol; a sister, Betty Elliott of Goshen; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen J. Nusbaum on August 23, 1988. A homemaker and waitress, Mrs. Nusbaum was a lifetime Middlebury resident and a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church. Friends may call 11 to 1 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 1 p.m. funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Russ Hunsberger of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church Greencroft.
