Victor Olen Yoder, 93, of Goshen, passed into the arms of Jesus early Wednesday morning, June 13, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare. He was born July 2, 1918, in Wakarusa, to Mose and Amanda (Hartman) Yoder. He married LaVonne Kirkdorfer May 22, 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen. She survives. Also surviving are his three children, Keith (Virginia) Yoder of Mishawaka, Karl (Chris) Yoder of Stanton, Michigan, and Beth (Rick) Kesler of Goshen; a step-daughter, Lynn (Jim) Arends of LaCrescent, Minnesota; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Ray, Melvin and infant brother; and a sister, Bertha Stichter. A lifetime Goshen resident and a 1936 graduate of Wakarusa High School, Mr. Yoder was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen. He enjoyed fishing and watching TV, especially the White Sox and the Bears. He worked in the family potato chip business in Wakarusa, delivered milk in a horse drawn cart and worked at both Western Rubber and Home Lumber, retiring from both places in 1977. He then worked at Paul's Mobile Homes for ten years and independently repaired mobile homes before retiring again in 2002. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 15, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012, funeral service will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen. Pastor Gene Hollingsworth will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
