Victor L. McKibbin

Victor L. McKibbin, 99, of Goshen IN, passed away on Friday, August 7 at Brookdale Senior Living in La Crosse, WI, with family at his bedside. He had moved to the La Crosse area just 6 weeks prior, to be near his daughter.

He was born October 12, 1926 to Abraham and Reta McKibbin in South Bend IN. He joined the army right out of high school and served as a clerk in Germany for 18 months at the end of World War II. He received an accounting degree from South Bend Technical school after returning home. He worked for Standard Oil for 30 years. He also was instrumental in starting the local Farm Bureau with his father.

Victor married La Vonne Becker, September 18, 1949 and they had two children, David (deceased) and Lynn. They were divorced in 1956. He married Frances Dewey, September 2, 1971. They moved to Greencroft Goshen in 1989 where Victor lived until June of this year.

Victor enjoyed Church activities, visiting the Bible camp, and taking and leading bus trips with Frances, going to Cubs games and volunteering at Greencroft. He particularly enjoyed his Honor Flight to Washington DC.

Victor is survived by his daughter, Lynn (James) Arends and their children Adam (Kristen) Arends, David (Jessica) Arends, Rachel (Jared) Lind and Andrew (Ashley) Arends, and 13 great grandchildren.

Victor was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, infant son David, his parents. Abraham and Reta McKibbin, and his sisters, Mary Weaver and Norma Hilbish.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.
