Vesta C. Stroman

Vesta C. Stroman, 86, of Goshen, died early Tuesday morning, May 15, 2007, at Goshen General Hospital where she had been a patient the last week after suffering a heart attack.  She was born in Goshen, on February 3, 1921, to Noble and Anna F. (Coffman-Kalb) Showalter.  On May 22, 1948, in Goshen, she married Albert H. Stroman.  He died December 11, 2006.   She worked in the Goshen Middle School cafeteria for 20 years before retiring in 1986.  She had also worked for Dr. George Warner.   Mrs. Stroman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women’s Association and Goshen Women’s Club.   She is survived by two daughters, Debra (Steve) Sands of Greencastle, Indiana, and Tina (Ben) Pestow of Goshen; five grandsons; three sisters, Ruby (Clifford) Hostetler and Charlene Christophel, both of Goshen and Esther Deal of Fort Wayne; and three brothers, Gerald (Lois) Showalter of Warsaw, and Glen (Rose Ann) Showalter and Dale (Janet) Showalter, both of Goshen.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Edna Showalter, and two brothers, Jay Showalter, killed in World War II, and Stahley Showalter.   Friends will be received 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, at the funeral home.   An 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Alan Griffin of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen will officiate.   Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorial contributions may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or American Heart Association.
