Vernon “Sam” Schrock, 72, died Wednesday evening, November 18, 2009, at the Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen.  He had been ill with Parkinson’s disease for 15 years.  Mr. Schrock was born on January 6, 1937, in Goshen, to the late Valentine “Felty” and Barbara (Yoder) Schrock.  He married Ellen Rodean Dykstra on February 23, 1957, in Goshen.  She survives.  He served three years in the 101st Airborne, and then he began to work in golf course maintenance and design.  He supervised the building of many golf courses in Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana.  He retired from golf course work ten years ago.  He was a member of the Greene Road Church, where he served as a deacon. He is survived by two daughters, Cinda (Jack) White, Indianapolis, Kelley Schrock, Goshen; five sisters, Viola (Dave) Schrock, Middlebury, Gertie Gingerich, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Alberta (John) Miller, Goshen, Gladys Troyer, Middlebury, Betty (Perry) Marner, LaGrange; three brothers, Floyd (Darla) Schrock, LaPorte, Ernie (Jan) Schrock, Angola, Glen Schrock, Ohio; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and three step-granddaughters.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Ruben “Bud” Schrock.  Friends may call from 1-5 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  An 11 a.m., Monday, November 23, funeral service will be conducted at the Greene Road Church, Goshen.  Reverend John Wanders officiating.  Burial will be in Oakridge cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made out to the Greene Road Church.
