Vernon L. Hershberger

Vernon L. Hershberger, 88, of Goshen, died Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Courtyard Healthcare Center.

He was born August 9, 1933 in Elkhart County to Menno and Drusilla (Hochstetler) Hershberger.

On November 27, 1954 he married Norma J. Weaver.

She survives along with four daughters, Beverly Rink of Goshen, Cindy (Kelly) McCarthy of Osceola, Deborah (Tony) Chupp of New Paris and Gail Hershberger of Goshen; two sons, Dennis (Cindy) Hershberger of Elkhart and Doug Hershberger of Goshen; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha and Donna.

Mr. Hershberger was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he worked as a truck driver. Vern acquired his private pilot’s license and built five of his own recreational aircrafts from blueprints.

According to his wishes, private services and cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
