Vernon L. Brouse, 95, of Goshen, formerly of Cassopolis, Michigan passed away peacefully Saturday evening, December 26, 2015 at the home of his daughter.
He was born October 9, 1920 in Cass County Michigan to Charles and Katie (Benfer) Brouse.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Woods, Goshen; his son, John Brouse, Cassopolis, Michigan; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Foa) Comment, Michael “Jay” (Jen) Woods and Christina Woods; three great-grandchildren, Dwight “D.J.” Lukowski, Alyssa Wesolek and Jennifer Woods; and a brother, Merle Brouse of Summersville, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther M. Walker; a second wife, Hildred Perry; a sister, Doris Ruhl; and a brother, Rev. Kenny Brouse.
Mr. Brouse was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran who served on the U.S.S. Otterstetter. After the war he owned and operated his farm on Grange Street in Cassopolis. He also worked as a mechanic at Hayden Ford, until his move to Goshen in 2012.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and Thursday, December 31, 2015 one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service at Mason Baptist Church, 20109 Mason St., Cassopolis, Michigan. Rev. Ron Liechty and his son Rev. Tim Liechty will officiate.
Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery, Edwardsburg, Michigan.
